Instead of having directories selections per collection, you stick with the "one big collection" approach but then allow querying. At that point you can have collections based on ratings, akonadi metadata, filetype, etc. Very powerful. Personally, I use it in winamp to sort my lossless CD rips from downloaded mp3s into different collections without having to actually separate them into different directory trees. Would love to see this Amarok. It's Winamp's killer feature if you ask me. Who *is* working on this, so I can suggest it to them?
